The Odisha government on Friday announced that it will implement the 7th central pay commission recommendations in the state.

The state government would set up a fitment committee, which would work out the modalities for implementation of the recommendations.

"I am happy to announce that the state government will implement the 7th Pay Commission recommendations. A fitment committee is formed for working out the modalities. This will benefit the state government employees and pensioners," Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told media persons here.

It will benefit around four lakh government employees and three lakh pensioners.

The 7th Pay Commission has recommended a 23.55 per cent overall hike in pay, allowances and pensions for the central government employees with effect from January 1 this year.
