Soon after reports emerged that Bharti Airtel website page -- where an offer "Apple iPhone 7 at Rs 19,990 on Airtel" was highlighted -- returned a 404 error message, the telecom company confirmed that "the offer is still on".
"The offer is very much on. The site will be up and running soon," a source in the company told IANS.
When one logged into the company's website, a message returned: "Sorry! The page you are looking for could not be found! Please try later or go to www.airtel.in."
"We understand that there is some confusion regarding two separate offers from Airtel on iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus," Airtel said in a statement.
"In the interest of customers and to avoid any further confusion, relevant changes are being made to the website. These will reflect shortly," the company noted.
Airtel said that there is a special 10 GB per month free additional data offer with any Airtel Infinity plan with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus.
There is also a device lease plan, which is being piloted for employees of select enterprise customers, and this offer is also very much active.
The offer is open for all customers and is very much active, Airtel clearified.
Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus were officially available in India from October 7.
The telecom giant rolled out an offer on the these premium devices saying that Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones can be purchased on contract basis at a minimum down payment of Rs 19,990 and Rs 30,792, respectively.
Under this offer, Airtel will provide unlimited local and STD calls, free roaming, and free data (5GB, 10GB or 15GB, as per the plan chosen) under a new postpaid connection.
As part of this plan, customers can keep the device for a year.
After the completion of one year, the iPhone 7 users will have two options: either to upgrade to the next version of the iPhone or to buy the handset they are using by making a balloon payment.
