A worker was killed and 12 others were injured in a blast at an illegal firecracker factory in West Bengal Wednesday, police said.

The blast took place in Hooghly district's Pandua area.

A police officer said several of the injured were hospitalised in serious condition.

The police officer said the factory at Chapta village did not have the license required for setting up and running firecracker making units.

Police were looking for the factory owner who seems to have gone underground after the blast, which severely damaged the facility.
