One person was injured when a member of an inter-state gang opened fire on police to avoid arrest here on Thursday.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on Road No. 36, Jubliee Hills creating a flutter in the posh area.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said all three members of the gang were arrested.
Police were checking vehicles following a tip-off that the gang members were in the area. When the robbers on two motor bikes were stopped, they resisted the attempt to arrest them. In the commotion, one of the gang members whipped out a home-made firearm and opened fire in the air, injuring an employee of L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail.
The injured was admitted to a hospital. The police chief said he was out of danger.
The gang members have been identified as Faheem Mirza and Khader of Karnataka. The third member Sami is a native of Hyderabad with a criminal history.
The police commissioner told reporters that the Task Force personnel had information about the movements of the gang members, who were allegedly planning to rob agents collecting cash from shopping malls or mobile phone showrooms in Madhapur.
He said investigations were being conducted to know if the gang committed any crimes in the city.
