A criminal was shot dead in an encounter with the police in Uttar Pradesh's Noida early on Wednesday, an officer said.
The incident occurred in the Greater Noida area, when three men were fleeing after stealing a Honda City car and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash from Noida's sector 58.
They were chased by a police team. A gun battle erupted near Bisrakh in Greater Noida, the police spokesman told IANS. One criminal was fatally shot. Two others, however, managed to escape.
The car and the cash have been recovered, the official added.
