Over 1.8 mn pilgrims performing Haj in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia said on Monday that the number of Muslims observing the Haj pilgrimage had exceeded 1.8 million, of which 1.3 million are foreigners, media reported.

The General Statistics Authority said that the number of domestic pilgrims reached 537,537, mostly non-Saudis living in the country, Xinhua news agency cited from Saudi Press Agency.

Saudi Arabia has taken strict security measures to protect the holy sites.
