A packet-full of torn and damaged currency notes of demonetised denominations was recovered in the city outskirts on Sunday, police said.
Locals spotted the plastic packet stuffed with torn pieces of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes near a road in the Rajarhat area. Police came and took custody of the packet.
"We have recovered a packet with torn notes. We are investigating these notes and trying to trace their origin," a police officer said.
