Pakistan on Thursday said it welcomes US President-elect Donald Trump's offer to play a role in resolving long-standing issues, including Kashmir.
"We welcome Trump's desire to play a role in resolution of long-standing issues," Foreign Office spokesman Nafees Zakaria said in his weekly media briefing here.
Zakaria said Trump had previously expressed his "desire of playing a role in resolution of the Kashmir issue".
He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's telephone call to Trump was a routine matter to felicitate him on his victory in the US presidential elections, adding that Pakistan attaches "great" importance to its relations with the US and wants to further strengthen them.
He said a visit by Trump to Pakistan will be "welcomed with great enthusiasm".
