The Palestinian leadership Monday denied reports suggesting that Egypt proposed an establishment of a Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip and expanding it with extra land from the Sinai Peninsula.
These are baseless reports coming from media, Xinhua quoted the Palestinian Presidency spokesperson Nabil Abu Rdineh as saying in a press statement.
"We deny what was published in Arab and Palestinian media that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi made the proposal to President Mahmoud Abbas in their last meeting held in Cairo this week," he said.
President Sisi, according to media reports, had said he proposed to Abbas to establish a Palestinian state in Gaza and expand it to more lands from Sinai in Egypt and forget about establishing a Palestinian state on territories occupied by Israel in 1967.
"President Sisi didn't make such kind of a proposal which is totally rejected and can never be accepted by the Palestinians, by Egypt and by the Arabs," said Abu Rdineh.
He stressed that the Palestinians will never make concessions on the legal rights of the Palestinian people for freedom, independence and establishing the independent Palestinian state on 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.
