Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday met the family of Anmol Pratap Singh who was among four troopers killed in an avalanche last week in Chang La pass in Ladakh.

The family in Kanpur urged Parrikar to expedite employment for the widow of the slain soldier. It also asked the minister to get Singh's younger brother, also a defence personnel, transferred to Kanpur.

His father Shiv Pratap Singh said he did not get any categorical assurance, but added that the family was hopeful the government would look after them.
