Rio de Janeiro, Jan 11 (IANS/EFE) A protestant pastor died after being shot in the head inside his church in the Brazilian city of Belo Horizonte, police said.
Charles Vidal de Souza, 34, received first aid at the scene and was still alive when he reached a nearby hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.
The attack took place early Friday at the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, located in the middle class neighbourhood of Ceu Azul.
First responders found De Souza in his office, which bore signs of a struggle, Minas Gerais state police said.
Witnesses told police they saw two armed men enter the church and fire shots before fleeing in a car parked just outside the entrance.
Police are working to determine whether the assailants shot the pastor in the course of a robbery or the killing was planned.
