One of the terrorists suspected to be involved in the Patna blasts of Sunday last, and also the blasts at Bodhgaya in July this year, Mahre Alam, has escaped while being brought to the Bihar capital from Darbhanga district.
Alam was arrested in Darbhanga district of Bihar, and was being brought to the state capital by troopers of the National Investigation Agency. He said he wanted to go to the toilet near Muzaffarpur, and did not return.
Officials, however, were unwilling to confirm whether the terror suspect made good his escape late Wednesday night or early Thursday. While some police officials said the incident happened late Wednesday, there were also those who claimed that it happened Thursday morning.
Teams of Bihar Police as well as the National Investigation Agency are on the look-out for Alam.
