PEC Zwolle kept their position as leaders in the Dutch Eredivisie after six match rounds, despite a 1-2 loss to Ajax in Amsterdam.
PEC Zwolle, though, played a tremendous match Saturday but were unlucky. They were denied a valid goal by Mustafa Saymak for offside and were denied a penalty after Ajax defender Ricardo van Rhijn pulled the shirt of Fred Benson, reports Xinhua.
Zwolle striker Benson also missed three clear chances before Thulani Serero gave Ajax the lead in the 72nd minute. His shot was deflected in by Kamohelo Mokotjo.
Four minutes later Maikel van der Werff scored an own goal from a rebound, after Kolbeinn Sightorsson hit the post. Giovanni Gravenbeek scored the late consolation goal for Zwolle.
Also Saturday FC Twente and PSV drew 2-2 in Enschede.
PEC lead the Eredivisie with 13 points, one ahead of PSV, two ahead of Ajax and four ahead of Twente.
