Corinthians and Peru international striker Paolo Guerrero has been ruled out for the rest of 2013 with a foot injury.
The 29-year-old former Bayern Munich star has not played since fracturing the fifth metatarsal of his left foot in Corinthians' 0-0 draw with Atletico Mineiro Oct 6, reports Xinhua.
Corinthians coach Tite had planned to recall the forward for Wednesday's Copa do Brasil quarterfinal second leg against Gremio in Porto Alegre.
But Guerrero left training early Monday and will be assessed during the week by Corinthians' team doctor Joaquim Grava, who said the player was likely to be sidelined for up to two months.
"It's very likely that he is going to need surgery," Grava told local newspaper Estado de S.Paulo.
