A trooper of the Chhattisgarh Armed Police was on Thursday killed in an encounter between police and Maoists in Narayanpur district of the state, police said.
Confirming the death of the personnel, Narayanpur Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena said a joint team of the district and armed police went on a patrol from the Aamdai Ghat camp into the nearby jungle area, where Maoists lying in ambush attacked it.
In the ensuing encounter that lasted around an hour, armed police personnel Ashwani Rajput was killed. The Maoists escaped taking advantage of the hilly forested terrain, he said.
