One policeman was killed and eight other security personnel injured on Saturday in a suicide attack by militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.
Militants attacked the district police lines in Pulwama town in the early hours, police sources said.
They lobed grenades and fired at the guard post. Constable Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh was killed.
Heavy firing exchanges were going on.
The exact number of militants who entered the police lines was not immediately known.
