Former President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday expressed deep anguish over the killing of senior journalist and Editor-in-Chief of English daily "Rising Kashmir" Shujaat Bukhari.

"I am shocked at the gruesome murder of Shujaat Bukhari. Such mindless violence does not have any place in our country. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. His voice will never be silenced," Mukherjee tweeted.

Three motorcycle-borne militants killed Bukhari and two of his security guards on Thursday as he boarded his car in Srinagar's Press Enclave area to reach home.
