President Pranab Mukherjee Tuesday condoled the death of journalist Diptosh Majumdar.
In a condolence message to his wife, Rinku Majumdar, the president said he was "saddened to learn about the passing away" of Majumdar, whom he termed a well-known journalist who worked in senior positions in print as well as electronic media.
"He was admired for his integrity, professionalism and ability to go in-depth into stories as well as discover nuances beneath the surface. In his death, the nation has lost a distinguished media personality," the president said in his message.
Diptosh Majumdar died Sunday following illness. He was national affairs editor with NewsX television channel and had earlier worked in senior positions both in the electronic and print media.
