President Pranab Mukherjee Thursday urged probationers of Indian Ordnance Factories Service to ensure transparency in decision-making and noted that integrity of government decision-making should not be compromised.

Addressing a group of 30 probationers of 2012 batch of ordnance factories service from National Academy of Defence Production, Nagpur, the president said innovation and modernization is the key to survival in today's continually changing environment.

He said Indian Ordnance Factory Organisation has aptly earned its name as 'force behind armed forces' as it is ever ready to contribute towards the defence and the peace-keeping efforts of the country.

He said the officers should never forget that for every failed bullet or weapon, life of a soldier who is just performing his call of duty for the safety of the country, would be at stake.

"It's not about producing arms and ammunition only; it is about giving quality products, ensuring timely deliveries and strengthening hands of our armed forces, para military forces and police forces," he said.

The president said that in future the probationary officers would be manning the decision making positions.

He advised them to ensure that the integrity of government decision-making is not compromised and urged them to ensure transparency in their decision making and actions.

According to an official release, the probationers of Indian Ordnance Factory Service were in Delhi for a three-day training on parliamentary procedures and practices.
