The Congress party in Kerala Tuesday decided to seek fresh probe into the allegations levelled by veteran CPI-M leader V.S. Achuthanandan in a letter to the party regarding the sensational T.P. Chandrasekheran murder case.

"A meeting that was held here Tuesday has decided to ask the Oommen Chandy government to take cognizance of the allegations levelled by Achuthanandan on the conspiracy angle in TP case and take further steps.

"His allegations have come at a time when TP's widow K.K. Rema has spoken about the conspiracy behind her husband's murder," State Congress president V.M. Sudheeran told reporters here, after the party meeting.

Chandrasekheran, 51, who left the CPI-M and launched the Revolutionary Marxist Party, was hacked 51 times by assailants May 4, 2012 near his hometown in Kozhikode district.

Rema has alleged conspiracy and involvement of the CPI-M leadership in her husband's elimination. She has been demanding a CBI probe into the murder for long.

A dozen people found accused in the case are in jail, including three middle-level CPI-M leaders.

"Achuthanandan's letter to the politburo, (which found its way into the media )cannot be just dismissed as an internal issue of the party," the political resolution passed Tuesday by the Congress party said.

"But it delves into a conspiracy that was hatched and it's this angle that has now to be probed deeper."

Incidentally, it was this letter that angered the CPI-M during its four-day meet. The party came heavily on Achuthanandan's breaching of the party discipline, which saw him walking out of the conference on the second day.

Despite pleas from the top most leadership of the CPI-M, he did not return.
