Dutch side PSV climbed from the fourth to the second place in Champions League Group B after defeating German side VfL Wolfsburg 2-0.

PSV were the better side in the first half and created some minor chances on Tuesday. Jeffrey Bruma came close with a long-distance shot and Jurgen Locadia with an attempt from close range. On the other side of the pitch Dutch Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost was denied from scoring by PSV goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet, reports Xinhua.

After 10 minutes into the second half, PSV went in front. Captain Luuk de Jong passed through to Locadia and the PSV forward netted with his left foot. Adam Maher had a chance to double the score afterwards, but his header from a Luciano Narsingh cross went just over the cross-bar.

With Julian Draxler, Vieirinha and Nicklas Bendtner coming on as substitutes for Josuha Guilavogui, Andre Schurrle and Dost the visitors pushed forward for the equaliser. Zoet saved a shot by Naldo, but on the counter attack, PSV scored again. After a pass by Andres Guardado De Jong beat Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio with a lob.

With the second win in the group, after the 2-1 home win against Manchester United, PSV came on six points from four matches in Group B. The best two teams after six matches qualify for the next round.

Manchester United beat CSKA Moscow 1-0 on Wednesday to claim the top spot with seven points.
