Moscow, Feb 5 (IANS/TASS) The leaders of Russia, Germany and France will meet in Moscow Friday to discuss steps for ending the civil war in Ukraine as soon as possible, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday.
"I confirm that in fact the negotiations of Putin, Merkel and Hollande are planned for tomorrow (Friday)," Peskov said.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande would discuss particular measures of the three countries to "contribute to the speedy end of civil war in southeastern Ukraine which has significantly deteriorated in recent days leading to multiple casualties", Peskov said.
The statement comes after the French president announced plans to visit Ukraine's capital Kiev Thursday together with the German chancellor and then Moscow Feb 6 to "discuss peace initiatives."
The key goal of these peace initiatives is to draft an agreement on resolving the months-long conflict in eastern Ukraine that will satisfy all the parties, Hollande said.
