North Korea on Friday fired an unidentified projectile into its eastern waters, South Korea's military said.

The projectile, which was believed to be a ballistic missile, was launched at about 1.00 p.m. from the eastern region near the coast of Seondeok in South Hamgyeong province, Xinhua news agency reported.

The military is analysing what type of missile it was and how far it flew.

The launch came just three days after Pyongyang fired one round of its new 300-mm multiple rocket launcher.
