The Madhya Pradesh government has launched a probe after nine bombs were discovered in the Gondwana Express train that runs between the state's Jabalpur station and Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin station.
State Home Minister Babulal Gaur Monday revealed that the bombs recovered from the train Sunday were highly flammable "Pyro" bombs.
A similar bomb was reportedly used in the 2007 Samjhauta Express bombing.
The bombs were discovered in the S-8 coach after the train left Jabalpur around 3 p.m. and a passenger noticed an unclaimed bag lying under a seat. He informed the train ticket examiner about it.
The train was stopped at Sihora Road station where the bag was examined.
The home minister told media that "nine bombs were found" in the unclaimed bag and they were "Pyro" bombs.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) is now investigating the entire incident.
The train resumed its journey but was, however, stopped again near Bina Malkhedi station in Sagar district and a thorough search was conducted by police.
