An Indian rock python and spectacled cobra were rescued by a wildlife activist from a luxury hotel and a private cricket academy respectively here in the foothills of Aravali mountain range on Friday.
NGO Environment and Wildlife Society President Anil Gandass said he rescued a young male Indian rock python from ITC Grand Bharat Hotel in Tauru, located close to the golf course ground near Naurangpur village.
"The around seven-year-old and ten-foot-long python, weighing over eight kg, reached the reception of the hotel and hid itself behind a granite slab there. On being informed, I rescued it safely with the help of forest guard Krishan Kumar," Gandass told IANS.
"Later, it was safely released in the Aravali forest," he added.
"A spectacled cobra was also safely rescued from a servant quarter in children's cricket academy in Baliyawas village here on Gurugram-Faridabad road late on Thursday night," he said.
Gandass, 36, a resident of nearby Garouly Khurd village here on Pataudi road, who is also district general secretary of ruling BJP, claims to have rescued nearly 11,000 different species of snakes, cobras, pythons and monitor lizards in the last 12 years.
"It's a very hard job. Some time I rescue more than 20 reptile species creatures in a day. Two young men are being trained by me to ease the burden," he said.
"The good thing is that instead of killing these creatures, people informs us so that the reptiles can be rescued. People are getting more educated and conscious day by day," he added.
