R. Chandrashekhar to be next Nasscom chief

Former telecom secretary R. Chandrashekhar will be the president of the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) from January 2014, it was announced Friday.

This decision was taken Friday at the executive council meeting of Nasscom at Pune.

Chandrasekhar will succeed Som Mittal, who has held the post for the last six years and has his tenure ending Jan 3, 2014.

He will be entrusted with the responsibility to take forward Nasscom's ambitious target of $300 billion of revenue by 2020 from the IT sector, said a statement by Nasscom.

Chandrashekhar served as the chairman of Telecom Commission and secretary, Department of Telecommunications till March 2013.
