Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday condemned the killing of Tripura journalist Santanu Bhowmick in protests, terming it "worrisome for our democracy".
"Appalled at the gruesome murder of TV journalist Shantanu Bhowmik. Repeated attacks on media are worrisome for our democracy," said Gandhi on Twitter.
Bhowmick was hacked to death on Wednesday while covering clashes that broke out between the Communist Party of India-Marxist's Tribal wing Tripura Rajya Upajati Ganamukti Parishad workers and the cadres of the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura, a tribal-based opposition party, in the northeastern border state.
