Rain predicted in New Year as cold wave continue in Punjab, Haryana

Light to moderate rain has been predicted by the Met department in some parts of Punjab and Haryana in the next 24 hours even as cold wave conditions continued in the plains of both states on Monday.

Adampur town in Punjab recorded a chilly 1.1 degrees Celsius.

The Sikh holy city of Amritsar recorded a low of 1.3 degrees. Ludhiana recorded a low of 2.8 degrees.

Chandigarh recorded a low of 4.3 degrees. The maximum temperature here was 20.2 degrees.

The minimum temperatures at most places were 1 to 5 degrees below normal. The maximum temperatures at most places in both states hovered between 19 and 21 degrees.

In Haryana, Hisar town was the coldest with a minimum temperature of 1.8 degrees.

Dense fog prevailed at several places, especially along highways. Road and rail traffic was affected due to the fog in both states.
