Rain and thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in West Bengal, including Kolkata, over the next two days, the met department said on Sunday.
A steady downpour greeted the city on Sunday resulting in traffic snarls on several roads.
According to a met department official, rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue for the next two days in Kolkata and adjoining districts while north Bengal will receive heavy rains.
"The districts of Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Darjeeling and Cooch Behar in north Bengal are likely to receive heavy rainfall for the next two days while rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, is likely to occur in Kolkata, Howrah and North 24 Parganas districts," said the official.
