Indian tennis players Divij Sharan and Purav Raja suffered first round defeats in their respective men's doubles matches at Wimbledon here Wednesday.
In the first match on Court No.11, Colombian and Polish 15th seeds Juan-Sebastian Cabal and Marcin Matkowski needed only one hour and 41 minutes to beat Indo-Brazilian pairing of Marcelo Demoliner and Raja 6-2, 6-4, 6-4.
Later on Court No.5, British-Luxembourg combine Jamie Delgado and Gilles Muller came back from the brink of defeat to edge past Indian-Taipei pairing of Yen-Hsun Lu and Sharan in five highly competitive sets.
Lu and Sharan won the first two sets 6-2, 6-2 to be well on the way to the second round but Delgado and Muller turned the tables on them to win the next three sets 7-6(3), 6-3, 6-2.
