President Pranab Mukherjee, outgoing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi Wednesday paid tributes here to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 23rd death anniversary.
President Mukherjee and Singh along with the late leader's wife, Congress president Sonia Gandhi paid floral tributes to the departed leader at his memorial here.
Rajiv Gandhi's son Rahul Gandhi, daughter Priyanka and son-in-law Robert Vadra were also present on the occasion.
A number of children also offered floral tributes at the memorial.
Modi paid homage to the late leader in a message on twitter.
"My homage to former PM Shri Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary," Modi wrote on Twitter.
Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated May 21, 1991 in Tamil Nadu's Sriperumbudur by Tamil Tigers during an election campaign rally.
He served as prime minister of India from Oct 31, 1984-Dec 2, 1989.
