Home minister Rajnath Singh on Friday offered Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi "all possible help" to maintain law and order in the bordering state.
"I assured the Assam CM of all possible help from the Centre, including additional security forces if needed," the home minister tweeted after talking to Gogoi over telephone.
The two leaders talked against the backdrop of the Tuesday night's incident in which militants from ULFA's faction opposed to any peace talks shot dead Nandalal Shah (65) and his daughter Kajal (21) at their residence in Tinsukia district and left three others injured.
"Gogoi told me that the state has already rushed security forces to Tinsukia region to maintain peace and order," the home minister added.
