Home Minister Rajnath Singh Wednesday reviewed the situation along the border with Pakistan following the latter's ceasefire violations in Jammu and Kashmir and assured full assistance to the BSF chief in taking appropriate action.

He gave the assurance after Border Security Force (BSF) Director General Devendra Pathak briefed him about the border situation in a meeting attended by Home Secretary Anil Goswami, Secretary (border management) Sneh Lata Kumar and senior officers of the ministry of home affairs (MHA) and the BSF.

The BSF chief informed Rajnath about the damage to the assets of BSF and civilians living close to the international border on account of ceasefire violations, shelling and firing by the Pakistan Rangers.

The minister was also apprised of the deaths and injuries caused to the BSF and the civilians.

"Rajnath appreciated the efforts of the BSF in tackling the situation and assured full assistance of resources to the DG, BSF for taking appropriate action on the border," said an MHA release.

Two people have been killed and 17 injured in the ceasefire violations.

There have been 95 ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control and it has also breached the ceasefire agreement 25 times on the international border.
