The Rajya Sabha on Friday congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for the successful launch of the sixth regional navigational satellite.

ISRO on Thursday successfully put into orbit its sixth navigation satellite called IRNSS-1F with its own rocket in copybook style.

Rajya Sabha Chairman M. Hamid Ansari said it has added "yet another precious milestone" in ISRO's history.

"I congratulate the scientists, engineers and technicians," he said.

With the successful launch of IRNSS-1F, India has moved closer towards joining a select group of nations possessing their own satellite-based navigation system.
