Mumbai maintained their ascendancy over Karnataka, with the hosts leading by 261 runs at the end of the second day of a Ranji Trophy cricket match here Saturday.
Karnataka, in reply to the home team's first innings score of 436, reached 175 for two at the Wankhede stadium.
Mumbai, buoyed by maiden centuries from Siddhesh Lad and Nikhil Patil (both scoring 106), added 94 runs to their score before losing the remaining five wickets.
In reply, opening batters Robin Uthappa (49) and Ravikumar Samarth (85 not out) got the visitors off to a good start with a 93-run opening stand until the former was sent back.
Samarth anchored the innings and will lead the visiting team's charge Sunday.
Earlier, Lad was the first to return to the pavilion soon after reaching his hundred. The middle-order bat was dismissed by medium pacer Vinay Kumar. Patil however, rallied on to take the team past the 400-run mark.
