Milos Raonic of Canada and Dennis Novak of Austria beat their respective Wimbledon second-round opponents here on Wednesday, and are set to face each other in the third round.
Despite all three sets going to tie-breaks, world No 32 Raonic pulled through in the key moments and beat world No 56 John Millman of Australia 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-4) in two hours and 38 minutes, reported Efe.
Novak, world No 171, earned a big upset over world No 19 Lucas Pouille of France 6-4, 6-2, 6-7 (8-10), 3-6, 6-2, in a match that lasted nearly three hours after Novak failed to seal the win in a gruelling third-set tiebreaker.
Elsewhere at Wimbledon, world No 13 Sam Querrey of the US eliminated world No 109 Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, 6-3, while Russia's Daniil Medvedev, world No 67, earned a straight-set victory over world No 65 Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.
