The government Monday appointed R.N. Ravi as the new chief of Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) and also cleared appointment of Ramesh Chand Tayal as special director general of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Appointment of Ravi, a former special director of Intelligence Bureau, as JIC chairman has been made for three years in the pay and rank of secretary to the central government.
JIC assess intelligence gathered by various intelligence agencies including IB and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).
Tayal, an Indian Police Service officer, was currently posted as additional director general, Sashastra Seema Bal) before his present posting.
The two appointments were cleared by the cabinet's appointments committee, an official release said.
