Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Raghuram Rajan Tuesday met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and discussed development issues, officials said.
Raghuram Rajan who arrived here Tuesday afternoon on a two-day visit to Bihar, held a meeting with RBI officials to review the working of different banks in the state and their contribution for its development, an RBI official said.
"RBI governor met Nitish Kumar at his official residence and discussed development work in the state," an official of the chief minister's office said.
According to officials, Rajan will visit Buddhist circuit's famous tourist destinations - Bodh Gaya, Rajgir and Nalanda - Wednesday. "He will also visit Jehanabad district to attend an official function at a girls' school," officials said.
It is the first visit of Rajan to Bihar as the RBI governor.
