Refusal to give more liquor to an already drunk prison official cost a tavern manager his life as he was shot dead in Punjab's Bathinda town Tuesday.
The accused, Bohad Singh, an assistant jail superintendent in Sangrur prison, allegedly got infuriated after tavern staff at a liquor vend-cum-tavern near the bus stand in Bathinda town, 200 km from Chandigarh, refused to serve him more liquor.
Bohad Singh fired at the tavern manager, Ranjiv Singh, with his service revolver from close range. The man died due to gunshot wounds in his head.
The accused had earlier tried to shoot at two other staff members as well but the weapon did not fire.
Police said a case of murder has been registered and raids were being conducted to arrest the jail official.
