Janata Dal United (JD-U) president Sharad Yadav on Wednesday called for repealing the sedition law in the country, saying it may "divide the nation".

"Sedition law enforced in colonial era needs to be repealed in our country... using this on youth and students will divide the nation," Yadav said in a tweet.

There has been a lot of debate over the sedition law ever since a few students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) were booked under the law for allegedly raising "anti-India" slogans on the campus.
