Indian diversified technology company Rolta India Ltd Monday said it is in the final stage of implementing a navigational telex network for the shipping ministry providing coverage up to 460 kms of the national coastline.
It bagged the contract in 2013 which will soon offer improved safety and security for maritime traffic in coastal waters and transmit maritime navigational and meteorological warnings and forecasts, as well as urgent marine safety information to ships in Indian waters.
The company said it is keen on developing its defence and homeland security business.
"The company is now well poised to receive orders in eastern India. It has already completed the implementation of the DMR (Digital Mobile Radio) network in Sangli and Jalna districts of Maharashtra and is in advanced stages of implementation in another seven districtsa," the company said in a statement.
The company has also appointed Lt. Gen K.T. Parnaik (retd) to lead its defence vertical.
Together with Bharat Electronics Limited, the company has formed an exclusive consortium and has bid for India's largest Command and Control programme in defence estimated to be worth over Rs. 50,000 crores.
