The Samajwadi Party, ousted from power in Uttar Pradesh, will hold its national convention in this Taj city on Thursday.
The meeting will take place at the Central Telegraph ground in Agra Cantonment, a favourite location of Mulayam Singh Yadav, who is expected to show up despite differences with son and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, party sources said.
"The conference will set the tone and give a new direction to the party," former MP and minister Ramjilal Suman said.
Around 25,000 party activists from 25 states are expected to attend the convention. Former Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar's son Neeraj Shekhar arrived here on Tuesday evening.
