The research and development (R&D) team in India has been responsible for the development of several features of S6 device, said H.C. Hong, president and chief executive officer, Samsung India Electronics, adding that it could be considered as "torch bearer for Make in India".
"India is among the select 20 countries chosen by Samsung for the first phase launch of Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, and rightly so given the Indian R&D team's valuable contribution in making these the world's most advanced smartphones," he added.
Samsung has three R&D centres in India that employ more than 10,000 people.
The pre-booking for the two handsets will start from Monday (March 23), Asim Warsi, vice president, marketing, mobile & IT at Samsung India said.
