Actor-filmmaker Samuthirakani's Tamil directorial "Appa", which emerged as a sleeper hit when it released earlier this year, is all set to be remade in Malayalam with Jayaram in the lead role, a source said.
"The remake will go on the floors later this year or early next year. Jayaram and Asha Sharrath will be teaming up to play the lead roles," the source close to Samuthirakani told IANS.
"Appa", which touched upon good parenting and the plight of children in boarding schools, was lapped up by the masses.
Samuthirakani will direct as well as produce the remake, and he is in the process of finalizing the rest of the cast.
