English club Arsenal's manager Arsene Wenger on Friday said he is convinced his team's struggling goal-scorer Chilean Alexis Sanchez will "get back to his best very soon".
"I think I played him very early before he was completely fit. That's a possible explanation of his current level," the Frenchman said at a press conference, reports Efe.
"Every player who has won a big trophy with the national team takes some while again to settle and to get back to his best," Wenger declared.
Sanchez, champion of the Copa America tournament with Chile last July, has yet to score a goal for Arsenal in the seven matches he has played so far.
"These are the two main explanations: physically he's not completely ready; coming out of a big achievement that takes time," the manager explained.
"He's had 36 shots at the goal since the start of the season. With his finishing qualities usually that should allow him five to six goals," Wenger added.
"That will come back, I don't worry for Sanchez. Even if he doesn't score he's still a major threat to everybody and I'm confident he will score very soon."
The Chilean international, who joined Arsenal in July 2014 from Spanish champions FC Barcelona for 35 million pounds ($53.9 million, 49.5 million euros), was the most outstanding player of his team last season, scoring 25 goals in 59 matches.
