Legendary Danish goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel believes Spanish football giants Real Madrid can become the first team to defend the UEFA Champions League title.
Schmeichel, along with former Croatian international Goran Vlaovic, member of the squad that has won a bronze medal at the 1998 World Cup, served as ambassadors of the Champions League Trophy Tour here Friday, reports Xinhua.
"I think they (Real Madrid) have all that it takes to win it and become the first team to defend the title," Schmeichel said.
"They have an unbelievable team and an unbelievable manager. I think the club is at the exact place where a club that wants to win the Champions League should be."
Schmeichel had a chance to lift the trophy when he was captain of the Manchester United team which won the Champions League in 1999 in one of the greatest turnarounds in the history of football.
