Sensex closes 86 points higher

A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Monday provisionally closed the day's trading higher by 86.29 points, or 0.35 percent.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also provisionally closed trading in the green -- higher by 28.55 points or 0.38 percent -- at 7,538.75 points.

The BSE Sensex, which opened at 24,801.70 points, provisionally closed at 24,804.28 points (at 03.38 p.m.) -- up 86.29 points or 0.35 percent from the previous day's close at 24,717.99 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 24,960.51 points and a low of 24,734.04 points during the day's trade.
