Music composer Lalit Pandit says that it was difficult to compose the song "Mast Hawa" based on the lyrics written by former union Minister Kapil Sibal for the film "Shorgul".
"Two of the songs were really difficult and for one of them, composing music on Kapil Sibal's words was a bit difficult. But by playing the words in a tune, the song 'Mast Hawa' written by him was made. I like the beat of the song a lot and its rhythm is unusual," Pandit told IANS.
"Pratibha Baghel has sung the song, which is an unusual item number and has a hip-hop feel to it. We have not kept bass and it is a rhythm-based song, picturised on Hrishitaa Bhatt," he added.
"Shorgul", starring Jimmy Sheirgill and Ashutosh Rana among others, is directed by Pranav Singh and Jitendra Tiwari and is loosely based on the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots.
Talking about his experience of composing music for such a story, Pandit said: "As it is a love story against the background of riots, it is different and the music of the film caters to that. Our attempt was that the songs go according to the storyline of the film".
"The songs are unusual. There are not too many songs and all of them are situational," he added.
