Gun shots were fired in a Johannesburg mall during a robbery Thursday, South African police said.
Several bystanders were injured as a gang of robbers opened fire while on a looting rampage at the mall in Bedforview, east of Johannesburg, Xinhua news agency reported citing eye witnesses.
The robbers, still locked inside the mall, exchanged fire with police, an eyewitness said, adding that he saw a woman was shot and wounded in the cross-fire.
Police refused to give further details.
