Shuttler Kashyap loses in French Open quarters

After ousting top-10 competitors in the first two rounds, Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap had to bite the dust as he lost his men's singles quarter-final to China's Zhengming Wang but not before putting up a fight at the $275,000 French Open Super Series here Friday.

Though Kashyap had beaten the Chinese the last time they played at India Open in April, the fifth seeded Wang was the better player on the day, winning 21-15, 13-21, 21-13 in an hour and five minutes to take a 3-1 lead in career meetings.

The World No.7 Chinese was totally dominant in the first game, being played at the Stade Pierre de Coubertin, leading from start to finish but World No.21 Kashyap turned the tables on his opponent in the second game to level the contest 1-all.

However, the Hyderbadi proved no match for Wang in the decider as Zhengming raced away to a 17-7 lead. Kashyap tried coming back into the match by winning the next three points but it was a little too late for that.

In total the Chinese took home 55 of the 104 points played and will next take on Japanese Kento Momota in the semi-finals.
